    Jonti Distributors cc is a small company owned by one family. They are agents for International Flavours and Fragrances, an international company supplying raw materials to the food, beverage and fragrance industry.This being a small company I was involved in many areas of the business. My primary responsibility was to attend to the accounting activities done on Sage Pastel Accounting and Sage Pastel Payroll. I was responsible for all the office administration of the company. I performed all the statutory returns and prepared the books of the main company and two property companies through to final trial balance. I assisted with sales, warehousing, distribution and production. I took on full responsibility for these functions in the owner’s absence.

    I held multiple positions at ABI :Chief Accountant, 1987 to 1992Management Accountant, 1992 to 1995Branch Accountant, 1995 to 1998Management Accountant (Inventory), 1998 to 2001I started at Amalgamated Beverage Industries (ABI) at a new plant. My first task was to recruit and train personnel, and put into place the complete accounts department. As Chief Accountant I had creditors, debtors, fixed assets, inventory control and financial accounting reporting to me. My responsibilities included monthly management reports, annual budgets, and the preparation of the financial statements for the plant. In 1992 I took up the position of Management Accountant. I was involved in an expansion project of additional bottling lines. My main function was to monitor and record the progress on the expansion, deal in foreign transactions, and the costing of the project.In 1995 I moved to Suncrush Ltd Head Office. As Branch Accountant, creditors and inventories reported to me and I was responsible for the preparation of the monthly management reports for eight branches.From 1998, I was involved in the conversion of the accounting function to the J.D. Edwards accounting package. This included modifying the general ledger to meet with the ABI requirements.I then took on the title of Management Accountant and was responsible for the inventory function. The following tasks were performed:- Maintenance of the Inventory Master File- Setting up all the branches on J.D. Edwards Inventory system- Training staff at the respective branches- Providing support to the branches- Monitoring daily variances- Reconciling branch stock accounts to the general ledgerI left this position due to the role being relocated to Johannesburg and my personal circumstances not allowing me to make this move.
