Rizwana joined the BBC on a prestigious in house News Trainee Scheme and went on to work as a Producer/Director in News, Current Affairs, Documentaries, Religion, World Service and Multi-Cultural Programming. Rizwana has experience in all aspects of film-making from concept to completion. Over the years, she has produced high quality factual films and has worked on one off documentary strands, long running series and studio based specials. Some of the programmes she has worked on include 9 O'Clock News, Panorama, Newsnight, The Money Programme, Heart of the Matter, Airport, Hard Talk, News Hour, Focus on Africa, Network Africa.Her films and programmes have covered a vast array of subject matters including: the Economic Monetary Crisis in Europe, national Security, Civil Liberties, Islam, the historic fall of the Berlin Wall, glasnost and Perestroika in the Soviet Union, the Gulf war, wars in Angola and the Western Sahara, Apartheid in South Africa including its demise, democracy and the winds of change in Africa as well as the genocide in Rwanda. The following are just some examples:"Journey Into Darkness" BBC "Panorama". A film about the genocide in Rwanda. Royal television Society's International Current Affairs Award & Amnesty International's Best International television Documentary."Inside Injustice" - Channel Four - Free For All. The film investigated the death of a fourth black inmate at Broadmoor prison.The film was presented as evidence in an internal enquiry into patterns of practice in the psychiatric and criminal justice system."Skeletons in the Cupboard" - BBC "Heart of the Matter" - This film exposed the clash between British Museums and Australian Aborigines over human remains removed by British scientists for research in the 19th century. The film led to a change in policy by the Natural History Museum and the first ever human remain being returned for burial.A full filmography is available on request.

Rizwana worked in London and in Africa during this period for the BBC.
