Role also entailed project management of certain initiatives put in place to support achievement and important school events. Cross departmental collaboration was required to ensure results were achieved as well as influence and inspire a staff team of ten to perform and achieve key performance indicators. My role at Manukau Institute of Technology was to provide support in all areas of a student studying a Bachelor in Pacific Nursing. I provided support for a very large student body and of all different levels from first year to students in their final year of study. In this role I learnt how to best engage our Pasifika students in Pasifika initiatives such as workshops and events that were academic or career wise. Being a Pacific Liaison officer allowed me to network with many other student services available to students to provide the support they needed. The role also entailed me to be part of a Pacific Advisory Group with other professionals in all areas such as academic, career and community to discuss and put in place valuable programmes and support for Pasifika nurses.
