      Rick began his interest in the embryonic financial planning industry while attending Lehigh University in the early 1970s by subscribing to a just launched publication...Money Magazine. Shortly after graduation in June, 1975, while employed as a Production Supervisor at Data General Corporation in Westborough, MA, Rick replied to an employment opportunity ad in Money Magazine...Investors Diversified Services was recruiting representatives to fill available financial planning positions nationwide. By March, 1976, he had completed all of the required courses of study, as well as the Federal and State licensing, and was appointed as a Registered Representative. In the late 1970s, Rick was instrumental in helping the Worcester, MA Divisional Office pioneer computer-based financial planning software to be offered on a fee-basis to clients. In 1980, Rick and his wife Marge transferred to the IDS office in Philadelphia, returning to their geographic roots as they started a family. In the mid-1980s, Rick was selected, from more than 3,000 IDS representatives nationwide, to be one of three advisors to present, as an employee benefit, financial planning educational workshops to employees of Fortune 500 companies nationwide. He has presented multiple programs to employees of American Express, AT&T, General Motors, and Johnson & Johnson. In October, 1986, Rick left IDS / American Express to begin to build his own independent financial advisory firm. In September, 1987, he founded and incorporated Asset Planning Services, Ltd. as an SEC Registered Investment Advisory firm.
