Financial Accountant - Systems and Financial Control
-
Jul 2018 - Jan 2019
In this role I managed a team of two reconciliations analysts and was responsible for ensuring data from the newly adopted Oracle banking system was complete, correct and fully reconciled to the company’s accounting system. In addition to this, I supported other departments in rectifying system issues and helping explain how the system calculated various values, such as interest, claw backs, penalties and commission. Key Achievements:- Providing training to other business units so they better understood how the system calculated interest etc. for various products. This understanding meant staff were able to help customers with their questions in a more timely manner and were also better placed to detect errors early, before the customer was effected.- Gained greater exposure to the Heartland Bank’s Oracle ERP system and used this knowledge to identify issues with system calculation. I used this systems experience to communicate with appropriate business units to fix the issues and calculate any differences owing to customers.

A key part of my role was accounting for and reporting operating expenses (including accruals and prepayments), as well as ensuring all month-end tasks were completed efficiently.Key Achievements:- Increasing the accuracy and completeness of accruals by changing the accrual process. This ensured monthly expenses were accurate and enabled real variances to be quickly identified and investigated.- Co-ordinating a team with various levels of experience and coaching them to ensure deadlines were met, as well as supporting each individuals’ growth and development. - Being part of the testing team for the new Oracle banking system which successfully went live in May 2017.- Producing off-quarter, half year and full year Financial Statements to a high level for an NZX listed company.
