    Rebecca is the Founder of Berlin Melzer Law LLC. She represents individuals in all aspects of family and matrimonial law proceedings, including cases involving divorce, parenting responsibility allocation (custody) and parenting time, paternity matters, prenuptial and postnuptial agreements, civil unions, same sex marriage cases, family building, assisted reproduction, surrogacy, adoption, DCFS investigations, and all matters related to families. Rebecca's expertise involves negotiating, mediating, settling, and, when necessary, litigating contested trials and appealing matters involving complex financial issues including the division and distribution of multi-million dollar estates, business valuations, executive compensation benefits, and trust and estate plans. Rebecca consistently been recognized by her peers to be a leader in the field, including having received the continued honors of Best Lawyers in America in the area of Family Law and yearly selection as an Illinois Super Lawyers, Rising Star, and selection as an Emerging Lawyer in the Practice of Family Law by Leading Lawyers. She was also selected as the Top Women Lawyers, Illinois Rising Stars. Her awards also include the 2023-2024 ISBA Carole Bellows Women and the Law Award.Rebecca is an Executive Board Member and Chair of the Legal Liaison Committee at Shalva, an agency providing critical services to domestic violence victims. Rebecca currently serves by appointment on the Illinois State Bar Association (ISBA) Family Law Section Counsel, the ISBA General Practice Solo & Small Firm Section, and the 2024 newly established Standing Committee on Artificial Intelligence and the Practice of Law. She previously served on the Standing Committee on Women & the Law. She frequently lectures on multiple topics - recently one entitled “assisted reproduction, the intersection of law, technology, and ethics” and moderated a seminar on legal strategies for tech-enabled abuse cases.
