As part of the education and resettlement services I am the focal point for all service leavers in the North West. As part of the resettlement team I provide a one stop shop service offering advice and support to soldiers as they make the transition to civilian life.I ensure that training is suitable and matches the individual resettlement plans of soldiers as part of their transition. I am responsible for ensuring that all claims for funding comply with all current directives and legislation. I hold the responsibility for authorising claims and ensure that soldiers utilise their full entitlements. I sign post employers and support agencies to service leavers and ensure that they get the maximum support. I idnetify personnel who may need extra support as they move towards civilian life and ensure that support agencies are engaged with an individual at the earliest opportunity. As part of the resettlement team I am responsible for various projects all of which are designed to enhance the services we provide and to make more information available to soldiers throughout their resettlement period. I am also responsible for promoting the whole life develoment inbitiative which encourages soldiers to undertake personal development both to aid their careers in service and to develop their skills sets to ensure they are prepared for civilain employment at the end of their careers. I attend employment fairs and transition events liaising directly with employers and training providers. I am available to help and advise all service leavers and as such form an integral part of the transition process for service leavers.

I was the HR Manager for a multi site multi culteral organisation who provided a facility management and real estate function for the provision of military training throughout Germany. As the head of Agency I held the legal responsibility for the management and administration of over 300 employees. I carried out negotiations with German works council members and was directly responsible for the formulation of all local HR policies within the organisation. I provided advice and training as required to line managers. As the focal point for HR I provided statistical information to the head Office in the UK. I was required to brief at senior management level on a regular basis. My work in the area of employee relations resulted in a CEO Commendation in 2011.

I was an infantry soldier having worked in this environment where working as part of a team is essential. My roles were varied throughout my career from training, security, surveillance, intelligence gathering to logistics management. I left service having achieved the rank of Warrant Officer Class 1 Regimental Sergeant Major (RSM). The rank achieved is the highest possible for a soldier and as a RSM I was the senior soldier within my unit responsible for the security and discipline of over 700 personnel within the unit.
