    As a mandatory work experience through my studies in mechanical engineering I choose to look for a company abroad.I found Escea and it caught my attention, as it was a new fast growing international company with a lot to offer in design and innovation.Through my time at Escea I worked on the (at the time) new DL1100 luxury gas fireplace and the DL850. The DL1100 is a very stylish and modern gas fire with the latest electronic control systems and burner technology. I was with my mentor and colleague in charge of doing the pilot run on this gas fire system as well as improvements and in depth testing. Testing included burner and ignition settings, powerflue and exhaust systems, packaging and compliance with required standards for surface temperatures.I also helped designed a new fascia series that is being sold with the DL1100/850, the Quadrato Lite fascia.My time at Escea has given me a lot of tools that I will be able to use in my future career, as well as a new network and a taste for New Zealand.

I offered my help based on my social experience with people in the past and was excited at this new opportunity to be able to help a fellow student. I was introduced to a very smart guy that was a bit insecure socially and found it difficult planning his work. I was able to help him based on my own experience with studying at the university and the program was appreciated from both sides.

    As one of my more special student jobs, I have been working at the danish state prison in Nyborg as a grocery store assistant inside the prison. The grocery store was for inmates to use on a daily basis for food and convenience items.Working in the prison gave me a lot of social experience with a group of people I would not normally meet. And working in such a closed world was a very special experience, that taught me a lot about people.

Working in the kitchen and the restaurant my role was helping out the waiters in everyday tasks such as serving, preparing training rooms, servicing the guests and helping kitchen staff.My time with DSB training center was very busy, but it taught me important lessons about business and costumer service that I will use throughout my professional career.
