Current Planner/Engineer at Verizon Communications
-
Dec 2008 - Dec 2012
Provided engineering services and current planning for Verizon Communications Broadband Networks supporting FiOS and other IP based products. As an Engineering Support contractor, I provided services for capacity management, new and growth engineering, and support functions to Network Engineering. Although I spent some time supporting activity in Pennsylvania and Delaware, most of my time supported New England locations in Massachusetts and Rhode Island. Distinguished Member Technical Staff - Verizon Communications
-
Mar 1973 - Aug 2006
In my last position with Verizon, that of Distinguished Member Technical Staff, contributions were made in the creation of models for the purpose of exploring and testing current and next generation data network architecture and service platforms including both element and network management systems. This included engineering, development and execution of test plans and reporting the results and related knowledge to Network Architecture groups to support current and developing designs.… Show more In my last position with Verizon, that of Distinguished Member Technical Staff, contributions were made in the creation of models for the purpose of exploring and testing current and next generation data network architecture and service platforms including both element and network management systems. This included engineering, development and execution of test plans and reporting the results and related knowledge to Network Architecture groups to support current and developing designs. Additionally, reviewed network security appliances and methods for application in Verizon's developing models. Throughout my 33+ year career, I worked in numerous positions from I&R technician through Distinguished Member Technical Staff. Of most interest to my current interest are positions held between 1990 and 2006. During this time, I developed skills in Unix, packet network, and TCP/IP network design and administration while serving as System and Network Administrator to Verizon's Network Services Operations Group. These systems and networks provided 7/24/365 access, surveillance, and alarming functionality for switching and transport network elements in Maryland and Delaware. Together with my counterparts in other Verizon (then Bell Atlantic) areas, region wide operations and tier 2 support was realized. These skills and experiences provided a path to my last position (described at the beginning) with the Verizon Technical Organization, Systems Integration and Testing in 2000.
