    My area of chaplaincy covered Bristol University, Oxford University, and various other institutions in the West of England and Wales, including Aberystwyth University.As a chaplain, I was there to provide all and any form of student welfare, practical support, and spiritual guidance. Part of my responsibilities included representing the students’ best interests as necessary to university faculty, as well as partnering with the Jewish Society on campus as part of the UJS network.The main part; the real responsibilities of the job were to connect with Jewish students and build relationships with them in order to revive and strengthen their Jewish identity. My wife and I created a warm environment, where the students felt at home whilst learning about their heritage - and experiencing all the spiritual (and edible) aspects of Jewish life.We also worked to provide a Jewish education in the form of classes, regular communal activities and an open invitation to one-on-one personal learning at any level.
