Impact One Initiative is a non-profit organization equipping community schools in Lusaka, Zambia to provide a quality education for their students. We provide our partner schools with training, mentoring, and networking opportunities to improve their management and teaching skills. We also support our schools with reading, technology, and creative arts programs. Within communications, the primary role is to develop and implement communications strategies that further the organization’s goals and strengthen relationships with outside parties, specifically partners, donors, and the community. The role will include managing day-to-day communications, as well as developing long-term marketing initiatives. The Communications Officer will be expected to make regular site visits to our partner schools, and work alongside them in creating content to communicate to outside parties. Specific duties include: • Documenting project activities through pictures, videos, and stories • Managing social media accounts • Creating content for monthly newsletters for donors and partners • Sending thank you notes and end-of-year receipts to donors • Creating targeted marketing campaigns • Developing specific fundraising and marketing tools • Assisting with internal communications between staff and schools Within project work, the primary role is to mentor our school directors to improve their management practices to become more financially sustainable. Specific duties include: • Providing training and workshop opportunities in relevant topic areas • Providing regular mentoring • Supporting schools to achieve their goals • Creating systems to track school progress towards goals • Facilitating network meetings

From this placement I gained the following experience; • Facilitating training in professional consultancy accredited by Chartered Management institute (CMI).• Ensuring the enterprises have a positive impact in the society there operating in.• Supervising various analysing and recommendations in the areas of business development (Finance, sales and marketing and business operations).• Ensuring the safety and wellbeing of Volunteers.
