Bangalore metro is a mass rapid transit system which is aimed for safer and swift transportation for the public.The first stretch of transportation was from Byyappanahalli to MG Road, which was inaugurated on 20th October 2011. Presently there are 21 metro trains plying from Byyappanahalli to MG Road, with a duration of 20 minutes between each service.The maintenance of the metro train would be conducted after every to and fro motion of the train, the process is been conducted in a highly precise manner in the Depot.My role here was to apply the concept of Six-Sigma (QC Concept) in the process of preventive maintenance, such that the rate of defective components in the system decreases exponentially and also the root cause for the failure of the component can be tracked out.Also i applied the principal of bath tub curve in the preventive maintenance process so that the equipment life can be prolonged and the equipment would be reliable.I was certified for implementing & suggesting Six-Sigma process in the preventive maintenance process, which in turn was helpful in detecting the root cause for failure of a crucial component in the train, hence fostered the maintenance process.
