PhD Research "Ecological improvements of alternative gravel mounts in channelized rivers during flood stages"Graduated in March 25th, 2024During Flood stages inside channelized rivers, fishes are often subjected to flooding. This research investigates the creation of refuge areas behind alternative gravel mounts, where fishes might find suitable swimming conditions to avoid the force of the main flow. The hydraulic characteristics of several designs are investigated using different building materials, from fine gravel to larger stacked boulders, as well as combinations of the two.
