I joined the Nature Group team, a company specialising in maritime waste water treatment, co-ordinating compliance documentation production, including the development of company management procedures in accordance with ISO9001 and ISO14001. Additionally, I have led the process of software validation for the bespoke ‘Rivo’ risk reporting and analytics system, currently under development for Nature Group. Further responsibilities have included ‘Safe Systems of Work’ development and the development of complete H&S systems for Nature Group facilities, O&M document design for the £5.5 million Sullage Processing Plant for the MoD, as well as project design development. Additionally, I have recently had oversees experience, visiting our facilities in Texas, in order to supervise the initiation, compliance and validation of new processing operations.

In March 2009 I was asked to join the Cowlin project team, and, subsequently, participated in the successful bid for the £77.24 million UPP ‘Student Residential Portfolio Project’ Development at the University of Exeter. Prior to joining Cowlin, in a voluntary effort to pro-actively acquaint myself and assist with the project, I carried out, at the Project Director’s request, works in order to design and create the filing systems currently used on the project server. I also contributed to the design, collation and production of pre-qualification presentation materials and tender documentation, used during the bid process, as the contract was finalised. As the systems administrator, I was involved in the design, operation and successful implementation of the electronic file administration system and ‘Business Collaborator’ extranet Project Spaces, which were used as the main document/drawing issuing and tracking systems on the Project (tracking over 250,000+ documents during 18 months). This system was successfully audited internally within Balfour Beatty and externally during the bid process and was found to meet the best practice standards utilised within Balfour Beatty. Other duties have involved all elements of information co-ordination and tracking on the project with regard to general email information, drawings, H&S Information, BREEAM, SMARTWASTE and O&M Information. Additionally I have been responsible for document graphic design, collation and production, including Information Packs, Newsletters and other promotional material, in order to assist with the liaison of Cowlin Construction with the Client, University, subcontractors and the local community.

After leaving University, I assisted in development of Salier Limited, which was formed in order to provide civil engineering consultancy services. The company’s initial remit consisted of the assessment and extraction of relevant contract details in order to design suitable testing facilities required for road construction contracts. This required the design, provision and maintenance of suitable mobile testing laboratories, including all material testing equipment, site buildings and mains services connections, for the duration of the contract. The time limited basis of the contracts required the ability to react rapidly and efficiently to the requirements of the contractors. During the late 1980’s and 1990’s this business was successfully pursued, with Salier Limited completing many projects with many contractors.I was involved in the expansion of the company into computerised systems for data management, designing and programming a suite of software which enabled the logging of test data, calculation of results, statistical analysis, report printing and data archiving, required by the materials testing laboratories supplied. In 2003 an opportunity arose in Construction, and with additional relevant management expansion, a Design and Build contract for a £4.94 million residential project was successfully tendered for and won. During this period my project management responsibilities expanded to include; further financial overview responsibilities, bond/warranty compliance, Quality Assurance co-ordination, Health & Safety Documentation and compliance, site procurement, sub-contract and main office document production, contract data organisation, information flow control and archiving (electronic and hard copy), design information co-ordination/tracking and drawing register maintenance, and analysis relevant to BREEAM compliance.
