SCE. Managed group of Lead Testers and others tester ranging from 25 to 80. Performed process re-engineering for the Quality Management and Testing organization.Left SCE - I wanted to be able to work on a PhD degree full time.and it was difficult with full time job.This was as much a financial decision as a career decision.Part time work has been OK but would like to get back to full time. IT OK, but Process Improvement and Emergency Management are also good.

Overall, I ended the chaos of untested changes being forced into production by consultants (from a major accounting firm) and management in Applications Development; I Enforced testing by my group, enforced CM migration rules and cut production abends by over 90% in less than 6 weeks. • Put processes in place to stop random changes and enforce controls• Reduced the monthly abend rate from over 15,000 to under 100• Reduced overtime costs by 83%; roughly $479,000 saving/year• Eliminated 44% of production rework; about $777,000 savings/year

I worked as an Independent Management Consultant. Four of my primary assignments were:• Managed an application development team for the State of Florida. I facilitated application & database designs.• Designed and programmed an interface between a world-wide email system (home grown) with MS Outlook for a major heavy equipment manufacturer as a means of converting to MSO over time. It was notable that their own people would not touch the system and 2 other consulting companies withdrew from the assignment as beyond their abilities.• Facilitated 3 divisions of a world-wide manufacturer in documenting and implementing CMM. They were assessed at Level 2 initially and well on their way to Level 3. • Did Y2K work for 1 company and a CA County.. The County had a universal date routine they had purchased but were not using as it came with a 96 page manual. I rewrote the manual to 12 pages, provided a 2 page "cheat sheet" and a utility program that allowed users to test and verify their changes.
