C-talk Limited is a nation-wide provider of Voice over IP (VoIP) telecommunication services to small businesses. The business began at the end of 2008, as an evolution of my then-current business - providing IT support to small businesses. I decided to start C-talk as the market was for IT support was quite saturated, and I was looking to get involved in something that was more unique, and with potential for more growth. Voice over IP technology I decided, was just the ticket. The business began with a very humble beginning, as there was little capital to invest. The only path to growth was going to be dedication and hard work. I focussed the company on providing a premium service, with high-level customer support and technical excellence. Over the past 4+ years, the business has grown to become a very successful provider of VoIP services, and has customers spread throughout the country. Key to the growth of the company has been:- Effective overall management- Execution of great strategy- Building and valuing important strategic relationships- Delivering exceptional customer service- Good financial managementIn October 2012, the business was sold to Voyager Internet Ltd who was wishing to expand their VoIP offering.

Systems Project Advisory
-
May 2005 - Nov 2007
In my position at Manawatu Waste, I was employed to help the company develop a new computer system that managed some of the core operations of the business. My role was to work with the software developers and translate the needs of the company to the design of the computer system. The role put my effective communication skills to excellent use, as I needed to understand the needs of different managers within the company, and then explain how the system needed to work to fulfil needs. The role also involved a high degree of system testing and de-bugging.

Mar 2004 - Nov 2007
In this self-employed position, I provided training and support for PCs to people in their homes. I was often working with senior citizens, and this exercised my ability to communicate effectively with people who didn't understand computers natively. This position was very successful, with a great deal of my business being generated by recommendations and word-of-mouth.
