    I was responsible for managing three teams of detective officers who investigate major significant crimes against the interests of the government, the public purse and the military and civilian personnel employed by the MOD, through the criminal justice process. Many of these cases involved major frauds instigated by people employed in positions of trust and by individuals employed by government contractors and I acted as the Senior Investigating Officer (SIO) with responsibility for the strategic policy and tactical implementation of this. Between 2008 and 2014, I coordinated a national operation known as 'Embroil' which targeted widespread criminality involving the theft and sale of front line military equipment via eBay and other internet sites resulting in many successful convictions through the courts and the seizure of assets from offenders.

    I served as the Police Commander responsible for providing a fully operational civilian police service to the Naval Authorities and the military personnel and their families on a large and diverse military establishment. This included ensuring that neighbourhood policing and investigative services were available for the local community. I also acted as the Police Incident Commander for the annual International Air Day which attracts approximately 40,000 visitors and I sat on the Strategic Organising Committee for the event and produced the Police Operation Order for the event.

    I was responsible to the Senior Police Officer for the policing and security requirements of the United States Air Force Authorities in relation to the protection of key assets (RAF Welford was the largest conventional weapons establishment in Europe at that time).

Carried out general policing duties which included at times the policing of demonstrations by CND (now AND) often resulting in arrests, interviewing and charges of suspects. I also carried out the role of Custody Officer during my service at this location. I was also responsible for ensuring that all police communication equipment was maintained.

During this time, there was a large Campaign for Nuclear Disarmament presence in Wales and this resulted in a number of demonstrations and arrests and interviews.
