    • Founder and Board Member
      • Mar 1973 - Sep 1976

In the midst of the Boston desegregation crisis I allied with a group of like-minded individuals associated with the Boston Public Schools, including Hubie Jones of Boston University, John Coakley, an inspired employee of the system and Mary Ellen Smith, a courageous advocate for the rights of minority students to found the Coalition. Our agenda was straightforward: to inform parents of student school assignments and to moderate the growing level of conflict enveloping the Boston Public Schools. It was a challenging moment in the history of the city, but to this day I take pride in my efforts and affiliation with a dedicated and selfless group whose only aim was to ensure a quality educational experience for all of Boston's children.
