Managing Director

2005 - Jul 2012
As managing director of Manidis Roberts since 2005, Peter has been the driving force behind their rapid growth and expansion from a small consultancy with 30 staff to a medium-sized organisation in NSW, VIC and QLD. Achievements have included:• Along with founding directors Philip Manidis and Geoff Roberts, successfully re-crafted the business into an advisory business with a focus purely on urban growth and infrastructure.• Led the geographic expansion from our Sydney base to include Brisbane and Melbourne.• Increased both the profit margin (from 15% to 25%) and turn over (from $7 million to $30 million). Part of this success involved taking a ‘top table’ risk position on a number Alliance contracts.• Developed the organisation into a sophisticated, medium sized, well-respected consultancy. This included rebranding, leadership development and growth of the board to include non-executive directors.• Maintenance of a strong and recognisable workplace culture that was the hallmark of our success. The company was recognised for its positive culture and ranked 8th nationally in BRW’s Best Places to Work benchmark.

Executive Manager and Director
-
1993 - 2005
Manidis Roberts was a leading Australian consulting firm that helped clients address the challenges of urban growth. We assisted clients throughout the life cycle of an infrastructure project, from planning and tendering to regulatory approvals and community engagement, and the wide spectrum of deliverables during the construction phase. Our key sectors are transport, water and wastewater, energy, property and telecommunications.Achievements have included:• Led project advice to Government for the scoping, design development and approval of major urban transport projects including Capital Metro, Sydney inner-west light rail extension, M5 East Motorway, North West Rail Link, Epping to Chatswood Rail Link and the Bondi Beach Rail Link.• The delivery of major infrastructure projects usually as part of a larger consortium including companies providing design, construct and operational capabilities. These have included alliance contracts as the alliance leadership team member or chair (Priority Sewerage Program, Inner West Busway and Sewerfix wet weather overflow abatement program).• Successfully advised the Malaysian Government on the UNESCO adoption of their first World Heritage Area – Gunung Mulu National Park in Sarawak. The advice extended to the establishment of best practice park management and development.• Advice to many local government areas in NSW on land asset management. Co-authored Succeeding with Plans of Management, which was adopted as the industry standard guide to land management under the Local Government Act and the Crown Lands Act.• Appointed an associate in 1995 after two years with the company. I became a director of the company in 1997, eventually owning just over 20% of the business.
