Selected to provide expertise and guidance on WiCyS direction and focus. Responsible for obtaining corporate/industry sponsorship for WiCyS events and activities. Secured Platinum level sponsors for scholarships provided to students pursuing cybersecurity careers which allowed them to participate in WiCyS events etc. Developed topics and ideas for the First annual Women in Cybersecurity Conference and moderated panel discussions and interactions with various female cyber students to offer guidance and mentorship to move them forward in their careers. Through the WiCyS community and activities we expect to raise awareness about the importance and nature of cybersecurity career. We hope to generate interest among students to consider cybersecurity as a viable and promising career option. With support from National Science Foundation, Award #1303441 (Capacity Building in Cybersecurity: Broadening Participation of Women In Cybersecurity through the Women in Cybersecurity Conference and Professional Development), WiCyS is an effort to bring together women (students/faculty/researchers/professionals) in cybersecurity from academia, research and industry for sharing of knowledge/experience, networking and mentoring.
