The product I'm supporting for AVG Technologies was in line with Family/User Privacy. We have built a database of privacy information across thousands of websites which we call tracking sites. Privacy information is weighed and analyzed based on several key points in order to determine how safe the website is. This requires a lot of readings and analyses. I was able to hone my analytical skills and critical thinking as these are needed to make sure our product performs as expected. Apart from leading the data side, I also occasionally perform QA work whenever a new feature is launched. Working on a tight schedule is the challenge in this area. Luckily, with my QA expertise and ability to work under pressure, all iterations of the launch was a success.

Customer Support Manager

When Smiley Media ventured to social discovery industry, I was given the chance to build the Customer Support team from scratch. I must say, this was the biggest challenge I faced in my career because of several reasons. First, I do not have experience in Customer Support and second, I do not have much knowledge on what social discovery industry is all about. But these didn't stop me from performing well. I was able to build the Customer Support department through research and consulting the right people. I used all the experiences I had from my previous jobs to make good decisions and deliver what is expected from me. A few of the tasks I did were selecting tools and solutions, making customer support processes, building knowledge base, hiring people, creating metrics, pointing out critical areas for improvement, representing the department in executive meetings and responding to urgent matters that affects customer experience. Ultimately, our goal to provide the best customer experience is nevertheless observed with good feedback from users.

I started in TGSI as a Software Design Engineer working in a mobile development team. I was assigned to develop the logic behind the Infrared (IR) communication of the mobile phone we're building. After about one and half to two years, I was transferred to Quality Assurance department to perform QA work and lead a small team of QAs. During my stay in TGSI, I was given the chance to go on a business trip in Japan to spearhead a new QA project and develop a process which the team in Philippines will use. Being a QA lead, I was working on both the technology part as well as managing a small group of people which I find very interesting and challenging. I must say, this mix of experience helped me a lot in building confidence as well as knowledge in the QA field and managing people.
