As Operations Manager I was responsible for multiple plants throughout Northern Ireland including concrete, concrete blocks, sand dredging, aggregate extraction in both hard rock as well as sand and gravel operations and an asphalt plant. Also responsible for all logistics in the area.Key achievements include: - design and project management of CEMEX NI's flagship concrete plant, Titanic, on time and in budget - the identification and opening of a key strategic sand and gravel reserve to supply the mid-ulster concrete and block operations, greatly improving performance from both efficiency and cost perspectives - leading the change program the matched the production facilities to the market demand across the region - ongoing development of KPI's and the reporting all operational performance to directors at management meetings

As terminal supervisor I was responsible for the operation of the modern cement import terminal and ship loading / unloading activities. I designed and implemented a full preventative maintenance program for the terminal and ship unloading equipment and was responsible for the execution of the plan. During the early days of the business I was heavily involved in the commissioning and subsequent supervision of the ship unloading operations. This involved 18 months working between Belfast, London and Glasgow on bulk power importation activities. In 2004 I was seconded to Blue Circle / Lafarge Cement Ireland as part of a distribution agreement between Civil and Marine Slag Cement and Lafarge Cement. I became project supervisor for the construction of the CEMblend factory in the Belfast terminal. Upon completion of CEMblend I assumed the role of Factory Supervisor; responsible for the ongoing operation of the CEMblend factory and cement terminal including all ship unloading activities in accordance with all HSEQ legislatory requirements. Daily responsibilities focused on ensuring customer expectations were met both effectively and efficiently to ensure high levels of customer experience were maintained. A strong passion for both service, quality as well as safeguarding our colleagues helped me deliver strong returns for the business. The sustained operation of the factory in accordance with ISO9001 well as to the highest health, safety and environmental standards complimented the high operational performance of the business unit.
