    Big Mama’s Kitchen & Catering is a family-owned and -operated business specializing in soul food and traditional American cuisine. We offer a unique variety of delicious homemade appetizers, entrees', cakes and desserts, but we’re best known for our famous oven-fried chicken and our delectable sweet potato pie ice cream!Patricia “Big Mama” Barron acquired her passion for cooking as a child in the kitchen of her beloved Grandmother Lillie. Our catering service originated over thirty years ago as a part-time, home-based business operating out of Big Mama’s own home kitchen. But the demand for Big Mama’s tasty brand of cooking grew beyond the confines of that room, and in December of 2007 we opened the doors of our full-service restaurant and banquet facility, and we named our business in tribute to that place where it all started.The appeal of Big Mama’s isn’t limited to Omaha, though; we’ve also attracted national media attention! We were featured on Food Network’s “Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives” in 2008; we were selected for Travel Channel’s “101 Tastiest Places to Chow Down” list in 2010; and we appeared on Sundance Channel’s “Ludo Bites America” in 2011. Big Mama and her family were also featured in a reality show titled “Big Mama’s Kitchen” in 2013 which aired on both the Cooking Channel and Food Network.We think it’s because at Big Mama’s Kitchen & Catering, it is our heart’s desire to provide each of our customers with fresh, great-tasting food, exceptional service, and the special feeling of enjoying a home-cooked meal in the kitchen of their own favorite “Big Mama.”In March 2013, we opened our second location, Big Mama’s Sandwich Shop, located at 2416 Lake Street in Omaha, Nebraska. Big Mama’s Sandwich Shop specializes in deli style gourmet sandwiches, wraps, soups, and Big Mama’s Specialty Ice Creams.
