The Gender Equity and Women’s Leadership Program is a National Women led National Non- Governmental Organization established in May 2013 in South Sudan. It was previously registered under South Sudan NGO ACT 2003 and now re-registered with Relief and Rehabilitation Commission in November 11, 2016, as per the NGOs act 2016. The overall objective of the organization during its inception was to minimize institutional barriers to women’s access to higher education; strengthen the capacity of institutions to provide quality services and; support university female students and faculty involvement in outreach and mentoring activities in higher education.Over the years, GEWLP has developed a trusting relationship with its stakeholders and government, and through its skilled local staff members, developed a deep understanding of the issues it seeks to address. GEWLP particularly seeks to engage with the efforts of marginalized and excluded, particularly disadvantaged citizens, girls and women to analyze and address root causes of exclusion and social injustice in communities and facilitate their participation in South Sudan-led initiatives to bring about social justice and rights-based development.
