    • Mechanical Design Engineer
      • Apr 2019 - May 2020

Had the opportunity to lead the mechanical design of the H-Damper, a novel product that enables airflow reversal in forced air composting systems at approximately half the traditional price. After successfully prototyping the H-Damper I wrote provisional a patent for the product, and installed the first two systems.I also managed the Earth Flow product line overseeing design improvements, drawing releases, fabrication work in Ohio, a on-site installation in Hong Kong, and the transition from Solidworks to Onshape.

    • Research: Computer Vision to Enhance Cyclist Safety
      • Jan 2018 - Jun 2018
      • Greater Seattle Area

Every year thousands of bikers are seriously injured or killed in traffic accidents. 40% of these accidents occur when bicyclists are rear-ended by a vehicle. As a bike commuter myself, this statistic holds a lot of truth. Dozens of times I have been nearly hit or driven off the road by vehicles recklessly over taking me. Discouraged by these experiences I quit biking in the city, until one day I got an idea. Why not take advantage of the power of computer vision and the abundance of cheap webcams to create a system that notifies cyclists before being overtaken by a vehicle. After mulling the idea over I took it to my mentors at the University of Washington. With their encouragement, the support of my peers, grant money from the University of Washington, and many late nights we were able to create a successful prototype of the concept which we coined, the LifeCycle Smart-Bike system. For more information about the design process and finished product check out my portfolio linked to my profile.

Had the opportunity to teach a section of "Science and Technology of Photography" students. I worked preparing lecture material, tests + quizzes, grading assignments, and overseeing photo shoots. Through these experiences I bettered my communication skills, learned about responsibility, and gained tremendous respect for the teachers in my life that make such a challenging task seem effortless.

  • University of Washington
    • Moreton Bay Australia
    • Underwater Autonomous Vehicle Research
      • Aug 2016 - Sep 2016
      • Moreton Bay Australia

I had the incredible opportunity to conduct research in Moreton Bay, Australia (just outside of Brisbane). Here, I led a team of three students testing the validity of underwater NDVI imaging. Our results were conclusive, NDVI imaging does not work underwater due to the high diffusion of red and near-Infrared light. While this was not the conclusion we were hoping for, the project taught me a lot about leadership and how to successfully implement the scientific method in the field. Our research was featured at the UW research symposium and was also presented to industry leading companies like Boeing, CSIRO, and In-Situ Pacific.More information about this research, and our findings can be found in the PowerPoint attached below.

    • Project Management Intern
      • Jun 2016 - Aug 2016
      • Bainbridge Island

I worked with Green Mountain Technologies (GMT) managing their newest product at the time, the Inter-modal Earth Flow System. My work required frequent use of excel and constant engagement with the team at GMT to ensure deadlines were met. Due to the small size of the company I was also given opportunities to exercise my solid modeling and fabrication skill sets.

    • Summer Intern
      • Jun 2014 - Aug 2014
      • Bainbridge Island

Puget Sound Restoration Fund (PSRF) is a Bainbridge Island based non-profit, committed to improving the water quality of Puget Sound by supporting the populations of native filter feeders.
