    Field work researching primary and secondary hosts of avian schistosomes causing swimmers itch in humans. Discovered and named new, possibly neuropathogenic, avian schistosome in New Zealand (Lake Wanaka) in communication with Dr. Sara Brant, University of New Mexico, USA, and Dr. David Blair, James Cook University, College of Science and Engineering, Townsville, AustraliaSuccessful field trials of off the shelf suntan lotions to determine suitability as schistosome repellent when applied to skin prior to entry into lakes and ponds.Promulgation of brochure "Duck Itch Frequently Asked Questions" explaining the parasite life cycles, how to avoid them and what to do to keep them from penetrating the skin.
