In my role as the CEO I successfully formulated and approved the Business Plan; hosted various member (groups of 200 members) and employer events; achieved a 56% improvement in net financial rollover position, rollouts to external competitors decreased by 9% and rollovers into Statewide increased by 38%. Reporting to and working with the Board, I provided strategic advice on the development of the vision for the future, leading regular business and strategic planning activities. I was responsible for 8 direct reports and 120 staff. On 29 April 2022, Hostplus and Statewide formalised their merger by completing a Successor Fund Transfer. At the time of my role as CEO, Statewide was the leading industry fund based in South Australia and the Northern Territory comprising 145,000 members, 18,000 employers, $10B in funds under management, operating budget of $20M per annum and 120 staff. Statewide’s key employer groups were represented by Local Councils, major South Australian businesses and small to medium enterprises.

In this role I reported to the CEO, with 5 direct reports and 90 staff, and was responsible for providing strategic advice on the development of the vision for the future with the CEO and the Board, leading regular business and strategic planning activities. Key areas of focus were the creation, communication and implementation of Statewide’s strategies and plans to achieve key organisational objectives in relation to Operations, IT, Finance, Risk Management, Major Projects, Business Intelligence, Policy, HR, Sales and Marketing and insurance services and products; developing and maintaining relationships with key clients, external stakeholders (Local Government Association, Business SA, Australian Services Union, SA Unions, AWA, Local Government entities) and the broader business community. Key Achievements Managed the tender and negotiation of the $21M insurance contract that delivered a 15% reduction in premiums to members. Managed the due diligence and business case preparation for Statewide that resulted in the successful merger of Local Super ($2.3B) and Statewide ($2.8B).
