1977 - 2001
This employment experience involved retail grocery operations. While I started at entry level I gained additional levels of responsibility. I spent my last 6 years supervising staffs of between 70-110 employees. I was personally involved in all areas of operations. I was one of the first of three people to head in house bakeries in the chain and to turn them profitable. I was part of a loose team of grand opening troubleshooters to ensure smooth operations at critical points in the company’s growth. On the financial side I was involved with payroll processing, cash management, A/P, A/R, security, internal auditing, inventory control, budgeting, staffing and scheduling. It was at this point that I developed a desire to excel in accounting. I enrolled in various accounting, law, tax, and mathematics classes to develop my skills in these areas and took and passed the Uniform CPA exam.
