Discuss with board member, students & colleges the best time to release scholarships.Determine a deadline date for scholarship applications.Form a scholarship committee to help in reviewing the school list and reviewing applications as they come in.Responsible for reviewing and updating the school list sent by NEWH headquarters.Inform the applicants! Send letters to all winners, non-winners letting them know their status.Complete mandatory Scholarship Recipient Report Form, submit to NEWH Inc. at least 2 weeks prior to the Awards event.Call schools to verify information and complete the check request form and submit to your chapter Treasurer. Follow-up with schools to ensure receipt of check Work in conjunction with the Programming Director in planning the scholar event and presentation of awards. Make sure scholarship recipients become student members.Have a mentor shadow with students at events, introduce them to members.Connect with educators to join NEWHEncourage students and educators to participate in Facebook: NEWH Scholarships for Hospitality, NEWH Sustainable Design Competition, NEWH, Inc. and local chapter page.Share scholarship event, student stories thru the NEWH Magazine, chapter webpage and Facebook pages.Remind students that NEWH membership is a great way to network for that first job and they can use NEWH’s Career Network as their first step.
