Before taking on a position as an officer for this Honors Society, I had noticed that the previous fellowship events in the past four years lacked authenticity and creativity. I was dedicated to creating fellowship events that were full of zest and kept people interested in what was to come next. From picnics and Hawaiian themed bonfires to the final banquet cruise, I worked tirelessly to foster an appealing atmosphere of togetherness and lots of fun! For my last fellowship event, I organized an “ALL WHITE ATTIRE” themed banquet ceremony aboard an elegant and luxurious yacht in Marina Del Rey. I dedicated much time and energy into bringing life back into this year’s chapter fellowship events. I wanted banquet to be unlike anything these members had gotten to experience before. From planning, hiring and coordinating with the event staff (Caterer, DJ, violinist, videographer, photographer, yacht rental coordinator, decoration) to dealing the bureaucratic progress of putting on an event, to creating/selling tickets, I made sure all the aspects of the event were taken care of. Despite facing different administrative obstacles, such as delays, and being let down by my commissioners, the event turned out to be a great success! I was able to bring 140 people together including current members, alumni, club officers, advisors, and all of the school’s Presidents’ Ambassadors. I was able to create a reunion of four generations of Phi Theta Kappa members, which was the highlight of my time with this organization.

The role of Vice president of Santa Monica College Econ Club brought me a better understanding of the topics that interest me. This experience proved to be quite fruitful, with an improved level of self-confidence and a sense of humility. During this chapter of Econ club, I was hosting workshops to our respective 25 members, invited guest speakers and influential business advocate to share their fulfilling experience with our members in an effort to help other students with related interests to gain the knowledge and benefits of having a mentor in their field of interest.
