The Trials of Excellence in Southern Africa (TESA) is a regional network established in 2009 under the first programme of the European and Developing Countries Clinical Trials Partnership (EDCTP1), with the objectives to create a framework for collaboration, capacity building, and training among institutions from Southern African countries. The data analysis and manuscript writing bootcamp brought together several PhD candidates from Botswana, Mozambique, South Africa and Zambia who were taken through the use of R programming language for data wrangling, statistical analysis, tabulation and graphing of data (data visualization). It was anticipated that the knowledge and skills acquired would help the participants implement the statistical analysis plans associated with their PhD research studies.
