    The Beth Tikvah Foundation of Hamilton was founded in 1990. By August of 1991, the Beth Tikvah Foundation opened its six (6) bedroom home in Westdale area of Hamilton. The need for specialized accommodations for individuals with developmental disabilities was great and continues to be great. In a multi-cultural community the Beth Tikvah Foundation of Hamilton continues to be the only agency providing services to individuals with the focus on the individual’s culture, religion and history that is not the mainstream Christian Anglo-Saxon. The Beth Tikvah residence is an Orthodox Jewish home that strictly follows the rules of kashrut, but one does not have to be Jewish to live or work there. The Beth Tikvah Foundation of Hamilton has developed an expertise in providing services to individuals with developmental disabilities with cultural sensitivity as the primary focus of service delivery.     The Responsibility to Protect, commonly referred to as R2P, is an emerging norm in international relations which states that when a country or a state is unable or unwilling to protect its populations from genocide, war crimes, ethnic cleansing and crimes against humanity, the international community has the responsibility to do so. R2P was formally adopted by 150 heads of state and government in 2005 and it has evolved rapidly over the last decade. R2P is a doctrine that is grounded in a global and inclusive conversation; it came about as the result of such a conversation, it has progressed and grown through this conversation, and, for as long as such conversation grows and develops, so too will R2P. The CCR2P is dedicated to keeping this conversation alive and open to a wide array of young minds and emerging scholars. An intern at the CCR2P will work to enhance the quality and scale of dialogue on R2P.
