    Lead the design and delivery of the metallurgical treatment plant on a large capital project (newbuilt production vessel). This included the Feasibility Design, Detail Design, Construction Phase, Integration Phase, Commissioning Phase, and Operational Support Phase. The flagship project delivered a world-class mining asset, the MV Benguela Gem, which was delivered ahead of plan, below budget, exceeding nameplate status within the first month of operation and maintaining production, availability and utilisation targets since project handover.

    Senior research engineer responsible for the development and execution of R&D projects and activities within the company's R&D framework and portfolio. The role broadly involved improving mining system performance and developing new marine mining systems and associated specialized equipment. The nature of the work involved innovating and problem-solving on automated mechanized systems used for marine sampling and mining onboard large ships. The role involved a high degree of individual contribution, team collaboration as well as a good application of both a practical as well as theory level. Furthermore, the role involved bridging the gap between R&D and systems development ensuring that robust designs are developed and eventually implemented onto the production ships, i.e. converting R&D Prototypes into Products.Key highlights from my time in R&D: - Played a key role in delivering on the development and industrialization of bespoke sonar-based visualization systems to support automated mining. - Lead research activity that developed a novel concept to substantially improve mining performance of existing vertical drill mining system. Solution from this initiative is now deployed on all vertical mining ships in the company's fleet and delivering +30% mining performance extending profitable mining life of current assets.
