    As a Pavement/Material engineer, Mr. El Taweel is responsible for the following: Reviewing the asphalt/concrete mix design as per QCS 2014and auditing the asphalt/concrete mixing plants. Witnessing the asphalt/concrete sampling and testing from the mixed/raw materials and core samples after compaction. Reviewing the quality records submitted by the contractor like procedures method statement, inspection and test plan and asphalt daily records. Controlling and witnessing the sampling and testing of the subgrade/sub base/roads base materials (stockpiles and laid materials behind paver). Has a good knowledge about Qatar Traffic Manual and how to use it as a guide in the road pavement design.

    Mr. El Taweel was responsible for reviewing the materials submittals and recommending it for approval/disapproval, reviewing the concrete/asphalt mix design, taking samples from the natural ground under the road embankment layers to check its plasticity properties and CBR value, taking samples from the embankment layers in case of a fill section or from the leveling layer in case of cut section to check the suitability of the materials as a selected backfill material and checking the degree of compaction after rolling as per QCS 2010 Section 6.0, part 3.0 (Earthing Works) through an approved independent laboratory in PWA approval list, taking samples from the granular sub base materials from stockpile and from the laid materials at site and inspecting it at an approved independent laboratory and supervising some of these tests as per QCS Section 6.0, Part 4.0 (unbound granular materials), monitoring the sub base material transportation from the stockpile to the site and comparing the quantities laid at site with stockpile quantity, controlling material stockpiling (quantity surveying, shape and labeling), reviewing Road Works ITP submitted by the contractor to be matched with specifications, taking samples from Prime and Tack Coat to be tested at an approved independent laboratory and checking the spraying rate at site, taking asphalt hot bin samples to be tested at an approved independent laboratory in PWA list for design verification and as a routine testing as per the approved ITP, and taking bitumen sample from the bitumen storage tank to be tested at an approved independent laboratory.
