I have been waitressing at Rivaaz the award-winning Indian restaurant from the age of 16. I worked part time as a permanent member of staff until October 2020 and since I have returned as a temporary member of the team, working full time hours. After my first year with Rivaaz I was awarded a pay rise as my skills expanded, I was responsible for overseeing the front of house staff and was given the task of training new members of the team because I was able to communicate in a friendly clear and constructive manner. I have learnt how to deliver excellent customer service and am able to balance my work life and education with ease.

Whilst studying in Bristol last term I was a full- time member of the subway team, this job title involved a wide variety of responsibilities, the main role was overseeing stock and inventory. I enjoyed these tasks because I am content working independently and am naturally a methodical person. Within 3 weeks I became a trusted key holder, locking up at the end of each shift with a colleague, Cashing up etc.

Underwood Solicitors - Receptionist

Whilst studying I completed paid work experience for 2 months at a local solicitor’s firm, that dealt with conveyancing and family law cases such as; prenuptial agreements, divorce proceedings, wills and probate. I reorganised their power of attorney data base, spoke to clients prior to their appointments and created a new filing system for all the wills and corresponding forms. The experience introduced me to the legal working environment; I was committed to my work and kept good time management whilst completing various tasks throughout the day. I progressively began interacting with clients over the phone, by email, and prior to their appointments. I overcame the most challenging element of the job, by handling emotional clients with patience, sympathy and most importantly direction, always leading the client back to their purpose for visiting or what advice they were seeking. I observed the differences made at Underwood Solicitors to those who were facing difficult milestones in their life, seeing this gave me the passion and drive I have today to pursue a career that will have a positive impact.
