    Mike Sindel is the Accreditation Program Manager in the Business Strategy, Risk Management and Compliance Department of the Executive Division of the National Association of Insurance Commissioners (NAIC). His primary responsibility is to coordinate and manage state accreditation reviews. Mr. Sindel’s responsibilities also include assisting state insurance departments in determining their compliance with the accreditation standards and providing staff support to the Financial Regulation Standards and Accreditation (F) Committee. He also serves as secondary staff support to the Risk Retention Group (E) Task Force, which is primarily charged with considering what accreditation standards should apply to risk retention groups chartered under captive insurance laws.Prior to this position, Mr. Sindel served as the Financial Examination Manager in the Financial Regulatory Services Division where his primary responsibilities were to provide solvency assessment guidance and oversee the annual publication of the Financial Condition Examiners Handbook. Other duties included providing staff support for most of the working groups involved in financial examinations and assisting with the production and management of risk assessment publications and tools.Prior to his current position with the NAIC, Mr. Sindel worked approximately two and a half years in public accounting. During his time in public accounting, Mr. Sindel specialized in providing audit and other services to clients in industries including financial institutions and insurance. Mr. Sindel graduated from the University of Missouri - Columbia with Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in accounting. He is a Certified Public Accountant and a member of the Missouri Society of Certified Public Accountants (MSCPA) and the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants (AICPA).
