    * I currently serve on the national tax team as a senior reporter. I focus my writing on all aspects of state and local taxes, including coverage of legislation, litigation, revenue agency developments, and the Multistate Tax Commission. I am particularly interested in investigative projects examining fraud and abusive tax shelters. I write the State of Tax weekly column.      As a staff correspondent in Chicago and New York with Bloomberg BNA and the Bureau of National Affairs I provided intensive coverage of legal, business and regulatory developments for attorneys, accountants, and other professionals in industry and government. As a special correspondent in Nairobi I was responsible for coverage of the United Nations Environment Programme.

    The Chicago Chess Foundation believes every child in Chicago should have opportunities to learn, play and compete in chess at low or no cost. I am one of the original founders of the organization and its first president. CCF hosts free chess tournaments, camps and training opportunities. CCF also operates the Rook, Rattle & Roll grant program, which provides grants to schools interested in developing vigorous chess programs. Each year the foundation touches more than 2,000 Chicago Public Schools students.

At that time, the paper had a daily circulation of 225,000.* Worked as a staff reporter and editor on the business & finance desk. Wrote both breaking news and long-form features on economics, international finance and trade. * Through a program called Visions in Action I was placed on the staff of the Nation. The program permitted me to make important editorial contributions and mentor Kenyan journalists.
