    First engineer of this prominent NYC studio in the heart of Times Square. During my tenure the studio grew from one 8-track to five 48-track rooms. Unique was nominated for the Tech Award as one of the top five studios in the world three consecutive years while I was there. I produced and engineered for a long list of world famous clients.

    I was the Technical Director for three five-camera shoots for this New York production company. One was the pilot for a music show to be filmed at New York's famous Lone Star Cafe. The show featured Johnny Paycheck, Bo Diddley and Levon Helm. I also co-wrote, engineered and played drums on the theme song.Unfortunately the show was never picked up due to some badly timed hanky panky on Mr. Paycheck's part.The other two shows were variety review type shows for the Playboy Network, filmed at the New York Playboy Club. The better of the two starred Ann Miller, star of stage and screen.

    Designed soundproofing and sound isolation treatments for this world class recording studio. Strove towards nearly equally important goals of acoustic effectiveness and esthetic appeal. Many of my designs were carried on for years after I left in additional studio locations beyond the original 48th St. studio.

    While still majoring in Music Education at James Madison University, I was hired to videotape student conductors studying with Maestro Richard Lert. Richard Lert's father sang in Brahms's choir, and the composer was a frequent guest at their house. The Maestro taught the young, but accomplished conductors from scores with Brahm''s personal notes hand-written in the margins.I would begin videotaping and then perform one of the percussion parts on the piece being studied. Being the videographer did not make me immune to Maestro Lert's critiques of my musical performance! In the afternoons, when the rest of the orchestra was swimming or otherwise enjoying the Shenandoah Valley retreat, I was in my room playing back the video for the student conductors.
