Complex Network Evolution Modeling Subject Matter Expert
-
2001 - Jun 2023
Part of my Graduate work at KU was on Decision Support modeling using Montecarlo simulations generally classified as "real-options" modeling. In my telecom roles I have used this many times to consult the senior lead teams on technology evolution change outs, by creating "evolution" models of the network, with forecasted customer, revenue, and network cost based on this call flow path using expandable variance types for each of those elements. The first public work was released via the University of Kansas that is mentioned in the link below. this type of financial network evolution cost analysis has since spread into multiple disciplines in multiple industries. If you google "real options bugenhagen" you can locate multiple references to that early work. It's a somewhat un-common modeling skill due to the amount of experience required with the technologies involved, however the approach is portable and can be learned, and is applied by many finacial decision support teams today. In the link below it references the Network Model I made that Nortel added some costing too, and John Charnes from KU developed the portable model from that has propogated to date.
