Entomologist and Grain Marketing Assistant

May 2005 - Present
I began my career as the Scouting Program Director here at Clunette Elevator. I would divide up the acres among scouts and then send reports back to growers. Currently I am phasing out of that area and transitioning into the grain field. Buying and selling grain to commercial terminals, and doing the background work that goes along with it such as hedging, sales and purchase contracts, grain settlements. I watch for basis fluctuations and track our average over time. I work with our customers helping them to find/set their target prices, and hopefully increase their profitability. I still have my degree in Entomology which allows me to still participate in the agronomic aspect of the business! Other things that I do would include treating soybeans, running the office, helping with Hybrid test plots (planting and harvesting). I've also recently learned how to invoice customers. Really my background is very diversified, there isn't much I can't do!

I did lots of odd jobs such as filing, I worked in proof for a while and I learned how to code transactions. Eventually they trained me to be a float teller. I realized that my passion was not in the banking world however, I ended up switching back to my roots which happened to be Agriculture! But I am thankful for the valuable skills I learned while working there.
