Art direction brings clarity and definition to a visual and marketing objective. It should communicate the right visual message for what it is marketingly intended for. It should combine ART and DESIGN to evoke an emotional reaction, capture imagination and stimulate curiosity.This is what I'm doing now. This is always the main objective, this is always the focus... Well, fundamentally that is, if only the world is perfect.The Super is a satire but the imagination is real, the talent is raw and the fun never stop.

I’m one of those Old Schooled Art Directors/Graphic Designer who was able to successfully transition to the Digital Age. The strength of an idea or creative for that matter are intertwined to how they are executed. That’s why only a few of these brilliant creatives visually work.Creatives for a scale business is different. The process of “decision by committee” takes it’s toll on the creatives and the brief of the project at hand. No one sees better of how all visuals and marketing materials have the promise to instigate Brand visual than creatives like me – Interpreting management directions to what can capture the imagination of the target market visually.> 2010 August - 2016 March: BiGGER Task at HandI was asked if I want to take up a Creative Support role for the Trade Show Business of Global Sources which is China Sourcing Fair (CSF) (www.chinasourcingfair.com) currently rebrand as Global Sources Exhibitions, full time.In 2010 CSF business was growing in full force, having 3 phases Trade Shows in the month of April and October in Hong Kong, new creative approach and visual quality is much needed. My knowledge on the company’s style guide, expertise in Graphic Design softwares, proficiency in Photography and Project Management capability might be the reason why I was endorsed for this task.> 2008 June - 2010 July: Leading my own team – CPG Marketing> 2004 October - 2008 May: Relocated to Shenzhen, China.I was tasked to plan, train, improve and facilitate; technical, creative and design know how. Develop operation procedure, production workflow and implement Corporate Identity Design Guide (Style Guide).> 2003 July: Promoted to Assistant Art Director> 1999 March - 2003 June: Sr. Graphic DesignerAssist the Creative Director (CD) and General Manager (GM) to come up with engaging marketing collateral, Product and Corporate visual identity.

This is where I got a real lesson in putting up a Graphic Design business.I had a small team of three Artists, two Account Executives and a Production Assistant. All of us had multi-roles. I did client calls, pitches, creatives, final artwork, illustrations and was also involved in the finances as well, with the help of a consultant accountant. Managing day to day operation of a design studio is quite an experience. It is very hard to multi-task on operation then do creatives. The flow of ideas is hard to force generate and get it to a level where I think might lead into something. Then in between the process of thoughts, I need to stop and do something else which is important to operation.

I was asked to handle the team in charge of the client-advertiser. From time to time was also task to help with editorial layout and visual illustrations. Eventually there was a plan to create a team for another business extension for medical Graphic Design project and I was chosen to lead that team.

Business: Production Studio of J. Walter Thompson Advertising AgencyThe Studio was going through the transition from manual art production to digital. I was hired mainly because I have the skills and know-how of both worlds. My Boss was pleasantly suprised that for an Artist I have exceptional technical knowledge in Computer graphics, be it hardware or software.Since the Studio only did projects for J. Walter Thompson, I got my hands on Animatics, Storyboards, Visual Illustrations, aside from the usual projects; mostly direct marketing materials from Citibank and Kodak. Different ads from de Beers diamonds, Motorola pagers, Kraft products to name a few of JWT clients.With the advent of Desktop publishing, I was also given the task to train and put up digital production work-flow base in Macintosh platform. I acted as a technical consultant in the upgrade path to digital productivity.

I worked on AVPs, product packaging designs, annual reports, posters, brochures, signages, island displays, counter top product display, and point-of-purchase materials.Computer Artist Promotion - April 1995 to January 1996I am very fascinated with computers and this is where I first used a Macintosh. My Boss saw my enthusiasm with computers and sought my helped in setting up the company’s first computer workstation, which was assigned to me.
