Extension is about providing education and opportunities to the communities in which we serve. As a 4-H Youth Development Agent I coordinate all 4-H programming in the county. I work in a wide range of situations including in-school programming in financial responsibility, STEM, and nutrition, project groups, and youth career development events. I'm passionate about agriculture and natural resources so I enjoy coaching teams like Wildlife Judging but I also recognize the importance of learning life-skills like sewing. Where I cannot provide first-hand knowledge to Obion county's youth I facilitate their learning by utilizing volunteers. My objective is to provide our youth with Real. Life. Solutions. to expand their knowledge, increase their opportunities, and advance their lives.

During the Summer of 2015 I had the opportunity to work in Hardin County, Kentucky as a Cooperative Extension Service Intern. While I experienced all working with all three categories of extension agents (Family and Consumer Science, Agriculture and Natural Resources, and 4-H), I spent the majority of my summer working with 4-H Agents and the youth within the county. I coordinated workshops pertaining to STEM, agriculture, and FCS curriculum, coordinated with 4-H club leaders and county population, and supervised Kentucky youth on extended trips. Because each day was a unique experience, myself and the other UK CES interns across the state of Kentucky were required to keep a blog about some of the situations we encountered. You can read our combined blog posts on the attached link.
