The Alliance is a dynamic, evolving non-profit organization that has been at the forefront of the movement to prevent child abuse and neglect since it was incorporated in 1989. As the national membership organization for state children's trust and prevention funds (CTFs), our mission is to:➢ Ensure all states have a strong and effective children’s trust or prevention fund capable of leading and investing in strategies, policies and best practices that prevent child abuse and neglect, including child sexual abuse, before it occurs. ➢ Initiate and engage in national efforts that help state children’s trust and prevention funds in strengthening families to prevent child abuse and neglect.➢ Promote and support a system of services, laws, practices and attitudes that supports families by enabling them to provide their children with safe, healthy and nurturing childhoods.

Parent Council Activities: • Identify various types of leadership roles that parents can take on within the BPNN beyond telling their stories• Provide input and recommendations on policy trainings for parents to educate policymakers and other key leaders about child welfare system reform (i.e., training content, style of training, assessing the usefulness of the training, etc.)• Assist parents in the BPNN network to stay connected and feel comfortable in actively participating in activities (i.e. periodically reaching out to parents in the BPNN and getting them connected to other parents or trainings or conferences, etc.)• Recommend items to be included in the agenda for the BPNN teleconferences • Promote submission of articles for RISE Magazine and any other appropriate publications that that address particular policy issues • Participate in telephone screenings and orientations of new BPNN parent applicants, if interested and time allows Parent Council Membership and Requirements for Participation• The parent council would include 6 to 8 parents and a small number of BPNN member organizations that would provide support and information to the council. The Alliance will provide administrative support including convening the meetings, writing meeting notes, and ensuring ongoing communication avenues for all members. Casey Family Programs staff may join in as needed to contribute to and learn from the discussions on the council. Other BPNN organizational representatives may also be involved in providing information, feedback and support. • The council members would be expected to volunteer one-hour every other month to participate in parent council calls and also participate in BPNN calls every other month. • There may be other volunteer opportunities that will be offered but not required.• Members would serve on the parent council for one year and then rotate off in order to provide the opportunity for other parents to serve
