My duties included enforcing policies and procedures intended to provide members a safe, clean and family friendly facility. This required interacting with the members and verifying that their time at the Y was a positive experience. Issues concerning building security or a member's concern were resolved by working with fellow staff. I assisted my co-workers in providing members and guests with general information about the Y and its programs, as well as registration assistance for programs and camps. Additionally, I teach rock-climbing, swim lessons, and assist in other departments within the building.

I do special projects for the State's Air Monitoring Program. I help design, build, and up-date air monitoring stations across the state. I work in conjunction with the on-staff scientists and meteorologist who design studies for different aspects of the air monitoring the program. I also assist the field personnel as needed. The State and EPA utilize the data that is collected from these sites for items like emission standards for industry and manufacturing. One of the new concerns that we are working with the Governor on is the Marsalis Shale and the Natural Gas Drilling in Western Maryland.
