My focus as Alumni Services Coordinator is to mentor and provide resources for our members/alumni that are transitioning back into the workforce and independent living. It is an honor to work at Back on My Feet as the first Alumni of the program hired as Staff. It is a privilege to use my experience to support our members/alumni in this challenging transition in the process of transforming their lives. At Back on my Feet we recognize the importance of community and we are working to extend our reach to Alumni of the program.

I completed a three year apprenticeship where I earned my journeymen's Iron Worker card. I worked in the field for eight years as an Iron Worker. This was extremely dangerous work that required me to work on bridges, skyscrapers, and nuclear power plants. I also was a certified welder, which requires attention to detail and a high level of concentration. Iron Work also requires a high level of communication skills in order to perform dangerous work as a team without anyone getting killed or injured. I was a foreman at Brandon Shores Nuclear Power Plant. This was a high stress position where we replaced a twenty-five ton turbine in the powerhouse. I was in charge of thirty men and their safety as well as the safety of the surrounding environment because we were working so close to a nuclear reactor. One bad decision could have been catastrophic.

I was responsible for meeting with homeowners to conduct settlements on their mortgage refinancing. I went over all the closing costs and all the creditors that were being paid off through the refinance. I was responsible for explaining all the legal documents to the customers while answering any questions for them throughout the process. I was also responsible for issuing checks to customers who were cashing out on their equity through the refinance. I was then responsible for notarizing, completing, and filling documents to complete the transaction.
