    At HDI, I learned part-time, the intricate job of production art for print. At the peak of business HDI catered to the business of trading card pre-production and preparing large format film for local print houses.HDI had two 30x40 inch output devices that could produce a high frequency dot of 300 LPI. HDI also had a Linotype Hell-drum scanner, a Roland 8-color soljet, and matchprint capabilities.Acquiring the skill-set in production art and film output at HDI helped me think more about design direction in the beginning stages, and was indeed one of the most fun jobs I've ever had.

I worked as lead designer in a two-man art department where we were responsible for concept through completion for diverse clientel ranging from race track owners, to high school coaches, in addition to producing event T-shirt designs for IHRA drag racing events.My time spent at Modern taught me invaluable lessons in how to deal with different personalities, and how to get the job done effectively, and as efficiently as possible. I enjoyed the freedom of being able to have as much creative control as the client allowed, which made the job very fulfilling. During this time I was able to hone my illustration skills, as well as a design style that would set the stage for my freelance career in motorsport design and promotion.
