Head of HR Operations - Project North
-
Feb 2008 - Mar 2012
The BBC’s move to Salford is the largest relocation project in broadcasting history impacting 1,500 roles based in London and 1,000 roles based in Manchester. It was a complex programme where HR worked closely with the teams delivering 3 new buildings, significant new technologies in advance of the BBC's London relocation programme, and the creation of a new Division. As Head of HR Operations I led the key people elements of the programme: • relocation of 800 staff (and their families),• successful redeployment of more than 150 staff into alternative roles (mitigating the risk of talent loss for the organisation), • a complex redundancy programme affecting all divisions of the BBC – demanding a clear and consistent approach, bespoke documentation and engagement with unions, senior managers and staff• the training delivery programme for the new technologies and ways of working being introduced into the BBC in Salford..

In parallel, the BBC was procuring a second generation BPO with TUPE implications in the UK, and offshoring.
