Kamloops, BC
I believe in the power of education and love working in an academic setting. In this job, I get to share both. I want to help adult basic education students navigate various systems at Thompson Rivers University whether the student goal is to complete the application and registration process or to access resources. My goal is to foster an environment where students can be successful in their courses so they can move on to their desired program.

This is my first job in my new field. I also created a shared spread sheet to record rent and damage deposit collections.

This committee organizes both a golf tournament and dinner in support of the Kamloops Brain Injury Association. I worked on the auction committee for several years. The last year I was involved directly with the auction, the auction (live and silent) raised more than $30,000. I left the committee to take care of family issues. Now I'm slowly getting back into it.

Novice Coach and Head Olympic Way Instructor
-
Sep 2005 - Jun 2009
I coached entry level swimmers in the Novice program and a more competitive group, Age Group 1, with the intent that they would compete in jamborees and then regular meets once they qualified. I also oversaw the Olympic Way program, hiring, training and supervising instructors. I created and conducted a parents' night, so parents new to the program could gain a better understanding of expectations and standards. I also contributed to the club newsletter.

I recruited volunteers, assigned them stations on the triathlon route, attended all committee meetings related to the triathlon. Unfortunately, this was the last year that the YM/YWCA had this event before it was taken over by other organizers. Very fun!
