    Preparing individual income tax returns for customers began in earnest, for me, during the 1980 season 1980 and continues. However, several jobs I've held required me to learn topics related to the organization and functioning of private non-profit and private for profit corporations. This includes, although is not limited to: small business accounting; non-profit accounting; interviewing, hiring, evaluating, terminating staff; grant writing; completing RFPs (Requests for Proposals); establishing minority enterprise status with local governments, the state, and the FEDs; developing business plans; completing non-profit applications; small business tax preparation; budget development; staff training; composing technical dental responses for insurers; insurance follow-up; treatment plan development.

    • 1987 - 2000

    Operated a private dental practice and separate laboratory owned by the dentist. Responsible for all aspects of both entities and profits. Trained staff and developed several business procedures that saved time and enhanced efficiency. Designed various forms for use in the practice and established procedures for copying, completing, and storing them. Completed Minority Business Enterprise application and submitted laboratory proposals directed at MBEs only. Established a contractual agreement with the dental laboratory at NIH to complete crown and bridge applicances. Set production requirements for each dentist employed. Verified credentials of all staff: clinical, laboratory, and business.

    • Nov 1984 - Sep 1985

    Taught the Youth Service curricum to students from Harbor City High School, an alternative facility, and supervised them on worksites during each two-week stint per month. Developed professional relationship with all worksite supervisors at both the Pikesville Armory and the VA Hospital at Argonne Drive.
