    • Service Mathematics - Executive Editor | Senior Acquisitions Editor | Acquisitions Editor
      • 2007 - 2019

After two and a half years in the K-12 group, I returned to higher education publishing as an Acquisitions Editor for the Service Math list. This comprised titles in liberal arts math, quantitative reasoning (QR) and mathematics for elementary teachers (college students intending to be teachers) worth $43M in annual revenue. I signed, developed and launched two first-edition digital projects, one in liberal arts math and the other in quantitative reasoning. The QR product grew over 520% in just 2 years. This accomplishment is compounded by the fact this was a first-time author and the author was unfamiliar with our online platform. In my editorial role, I led cross-functional teams, including production, design, marketing and media throughout project lifecycle to ensure products were delivered on time and within budget which often included motivating and often mentoring. Mentoring assistants, new editors and new team members is a responsibility I enjoy and take quite seriously. In 2009 I was recognized as Editor of the Year where my biggest accomplishment may have been getting authors unaccustomed to doing extensive revision to truly rethink and revamp the new edition. Perhaps it was rookie luck or not knowing any better as this was my first edition working with this author team but it did set the tone for our work over the next several years. The award was actually based on doubling my list's revenue but I think the author management may have been more difficult.

    • Marketing Manager AP& Electives | Senior Campaign Marketing Manager - Middle & High School Math
      • Nov 2004 - Mar 2007

I returned to textbook publishing in November 2004 in the K-12 division. Elementary/high school publishing was new to me and significantly different from higher education but in this initial position I was responsible for marketing the AP & Electives books, which were all higher education titles so I was basically a liaison between higher ed and K-12. Eventually I moved on to K-12 campaign marketing which was predominantly for large statewide adoptions in Georgia, Texas, California, Florida, New York, Ohio, New Mexico, and Illinois.

I love a mic...
